A club of athletes who have completed a marathon on all 7 Continents
The 7 Continents Marathon Club™ recognizes athletes who have completed a marathon on all 7 continents. The Club has been operated by Polar Running Adventures since 2006. To be eligible for membership, you must complete a recognized marathon on each of the 7 continents and be able to authenticate your claim for membership. Antarctica is defined as the mainland continent or area within the Antarctic Circle, a line of latitude 66.5° south of the Equator. New members can receive a 7 Continents Marathon Club medal and certificate.
The 7 Continents Marathon Club™ membership spans 6 continents and 50+ countries. Almost all members of the Club have travelled to Antarctica with Polar Running Adventures to complete a half marathon, 42.2 km marathon or ultramarathon. They include a diverse range of people: Olympic standard athletes, explorers, people with disabilities, recreational athletes, young and old. Polar Running Adventures continues to create new opportunities for membership via the Antarctic Polar Race in December 2025.

You should complete a marathon on mainland Antarctica or within the Antarctic Circle, which is a line of latitude approximately 66.5° south of the Equator. The event should ideally be operated by Polar Running Adventures or recognized by the Antarctica Athletics Federation e.g. marathons at Wolf’s Fang and McMurdo Station. GPS evidence of the marathon distance / location is required for non-established events.
It’s important to note that the Antarctic is a region whereas Antarctica is a continent within that region. Marathon events that do not take place on mainland Antarctica or islands on the continental shelf / within the Antarctic Circle do not count as Antarctica. Furthermore, marathons conducted on ships in Antarctica waters are not representative of an Antarctica challenge required for membership.
Polar Running Adventures is operating the Antarctic Polar Race in December 2025. It doubles as the Antarctica Athletics Federation Championships at the marathon distance.
